Surprisingly, dogs are able to recognize human emotions. Studies show that dogs can distinguish joy, sadness, and even stress in their owners, and respond accordingly. This is due to their highly developed social and emotional bonds with humans. For example, when an owner is stressed or anxious, a dog may try to calm them down by hugging them or simply staying close by.

Average life expectancy of dogs

On average, dogs live between 10 and 15 years, but life expectancy varies greatly depending on the breed. Smaller breeds such as Chihuahuas, terriers and Shih Tzu tend to live longer than larger breeds such as Mastiffs or St. Bernards. In addition to breed, proper nutrition, activity level and regular visits to the veterinarian will affect a dog's longevity.
